Discover card has one of the lowest international transaction fees around….a whopping 0%. That’s right they do not charge ANY fees for international purchases made in a foreign currency or international purchases made in U.S. dollars. Unlike cards issued by Visa and MasterCard, Discover’s cards cannot have dynamic currency conversion fees added by the merchant. Discover also fully, transparently and openly discloses the exchange rate used to make the foreign purchase prominently on the monthly credit card statement. In addition to non-existent fees, Discover offers some of the most attractive rewards programs in the industry and touts fantastic customer service. Discover Card is not widely accepted in foreign countries. That said, Discover Card does not charge additional fees for making purchases in foreign countries. IF Discover Card was accepted in other countries, it would therefore have the lowest foreign transaction fees on the market. Alas…
