Where’s My Tax Refund?!

by Luke  November 28, 2006

   Topic(s): Taxes

Tax ReturnIt’s time to start thinking about the 2006 tax year again, but some people still haven’t received their refunds for 2005 yet. This is especially true for people who moved without telling the IRS or who whose mail forwarding expired before the IRS mailed their check. It can be easy for travelers or snowbirds to lose track of or even forget about their refunds entirely. Each year the IRS keeps hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid refunds. Fortunately, the IRS will mail your refund check if you get in touch with them.

You can call the IRS “Where’s My Refund” service at this number: 800-829-1954.

You can also access this service online at:

http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96596,00.html

However, they will ask you to enter in your Social Security number, filing status and the refund amount on your 2005 tax return.

    Evelyn,

Please never, never share sensitive data (especially your social security number) online including on blogs, forums, discussion groups or even over email. You were lucky that I was able to xxxx out your personal data above within 15mins of you posting it. This site gets a fair amount of traffic and you’re asking for trouble if you post that kind of personal data where everyone can see it.

If you need to know the status of a refund contact the IRS directly at the website above.
